If you want more in life, it is time to leave the carport plans behind and go to something more compelling, such as a single or double garage. We both know that a garage will be more costly to build and it will most certainly require a permit for the construction, but in the same time it will provide indisputable benefits, such as durability and full car protection from the snow, rain and strong winds. Moreover, if you leave the car on the driveway, you can use the garage for storage or for crafty hobbies. I will keep adding plans as I found them to keep the list fresh!
A garage might look as a complex project, but with the right plans, you can get the job done in a few days, with the help of a few handy friends. Just browse through the plans and adjust them to suit your needs and budget. There are always local building codes to comply with, so I really suggest you take a look over them before starting the construction process. I have selected the best plans for a garage on the internet. Here they are:
1. One Car Garage Plans from MyOutdoorPlans
If you are in the search for the best free garage plans on the internet, you should not go further than these plans. This is a garage for one car with a traditional gable shaped roof, a 10′ wide front door and a man door and a window on the side. The size of this simple detached garage is 16×24. These plans come with step by step instructions, diagram, a shopping list and complete cut list. See the 16×24 garage plans!
2. Cost Efficient Garage from BuildEazy
If you are all on cost efficiency then this approach on a single car garage might suit your budget. The guys at Buildeazy put a lot of effort on making these plans as detailed as possible. You can build this garage and pour the concrete slab later on, when your pocket allows the investment, making this the ideal choice for the thrifty ones. You can see the plans HERE.
3. Free Garage Plans from HowToSpecialist
This plan from HowToSpecialist isn’t the most detailed out there, but it still provides the basics of a garage construction. If you find the size of this garage to suit your needs, you should just go ahead and take a look over the instructions. You could easily make adjustments to this garage and use it as a workshop, especially if you are into woodworking or another crafty hobby. You can check out the simple garage plans here! Make sure you check out the 3 Parts of the project to make the most of the plans.
4. 2 Car Garage Plans from MyOutdoorPlans
If you have 2 cars and you care equally about them, then you have no other choice than building a double garage. But this might be a difficult task, as good 2 car garage plans are hard to find for free. Fortunately, the guys at MyOutdoorPlans have you covered with this wonderful tutorial with PDF download free plans on how to build a double 24×24 garage. From my humble opinion, I consider these plans great and very nicely documented.
5. 12×12 Shed with Garage Door
I am happy to have found these plans, as well. While this is not technically a garage it still features a roll up garage door and a lot of useful space. However, this is built like a shed with a wooden floor, so you won’t be able to park a car inside, but this will be great for a motorcycle and for a super light atv. Make sure you take a look over the garage shed plans if you are in the market for a small shed with a large roll up door.
